Life As We Knew It - Susan Beth Pfeffer I have always had a fascination with survival after an apocalyptic event. This book tells the story from the perspective a young girl, Miranda. Through the journal entries she writes prior to the event and afterward, she chronicles the day-to-day events that mark the decline of her "ordinary" life and the lives of her friends and family.

Miranda and her family are faced with a bleak future after the moon gets hit by an asteroid, causing tsunamis, volcanic erruptions, and world-wide chaos. The effects of this disaster and how it plays out in the way they live was entirely believeable and I found myself fully engaged in this family's struggles to survive. I really liked this story and plan to look for the next book in the series.
